37.01  PURPOSE

            To provide a policy establishing the minimum level of on-
            duty staffing assignments for fire apparatus and the
            assignment of personnel when the on-duty staffing exceeds
            minimum levels.

37.02  POLICY

            A.  The staffing required for all engine companies and
                truck companies that respond to alarms on a daily
                basis.
                1.  City-wide there are five (5) engine companies
                    and one (1) truck company staffed daily.
            B.  The minimum level of staffing required to staff
                all on-duty fire apparatus shall not be less than
                fifteen (15) personnel.
            C.  The Headquarters Station shall not have less than
                eight (8) personnel to staff apparatus (see apparatus
                staffing chart).
                1.  The minimum staffing assignments for first due
                    engine shall be three (3), second due engine
                    shall be (2), and the truck company shall be
                    three (3).
            D.  The Number One Station shall not have less than four
                (4) personnel to staff apparatus (see apparatus staffing
                chart).
                1.  The minimum staffing assignments for first
                    due engine shall be three (3) and the second
                    due engine shall be one (1).
            E.  Station Number 10 shall not have less than three (3)
                personnel to staff apparatus (see apparatus staffing
                chart).
                1.  The minimum staffing assignments for first due
                    engine shall be three (3).



            F.  Staffing levels above minimum staffing shall be
                assigned to fire apparatus using the apparatus staffing
                chart.
                1.  Reference the staffing assignments for each
                    apparatus located at each station.

37.03  RESPONSIBILITY

            A.  It shall be the responsibility of the Officer-In-
                Charge at Headquarters Station to insure that the
                available personnel on duty be assigned to apparatus
                following the apparatus staffing chart.
            B.  One (1) member from each station will be allowed to
                pick up groceries.
